My mom is having open heart surgery in 8 hours. Carissa and I are sleeping in a waiting room because there are no hotels with rooms since it’s fucking valentines day.

Hope her surgery goes well!

One of two fake abortion clinics on the same street as the REAL center, the EMW’s Women Center here in downtown Louisville. This one is right next door to the actual clinic and this place is seriously a nightmarish hell-hole for any unsuspecting women tricked by the anti’s. They assure you this this the abortion clinic, they get you inside, and then offer you food and drink—which of course, means that once you realize your mistake, you can’t run next door and catch your actual appointment, since you need to fast.

Women have come out of this building crying, and on a few rare occasions, without their pants. They take you to a back room for an ultrasound, have you remove your pants, and then begin lecturing you on the sins of aborting. They do not give you back your pants until you have listened, and a few women tricked this far refused to listen and stormed out furious, ashamed, and in their underwear.

This is the anti-choice agenda—lying, tricking, shaming, and embarrassing women to the brink of hysterics in hopes that she carry the pregnancy to term. Forcing her, through lies and manipulation, to do with her body what THEY want, not what is best for her.

There is no “choice” at the Louisville “Women’s Choice” clinics. Just abuse, shame, and bigots who would rather undress a woman to make her feel vulnerable and then explain how awful of a person she is than let her make HER. CHOICE.

Self-Reblog from the Archives: Behind the Medic: Wishing I could do more — UPDATED

cranquis:

To the 11-week-pregnant woman who came to the Urgent Care with vaginal bleeding, stomach cramps, and “little clots of tissue coming out”…

I wish I could’ve given you…

That is so wonderful!  I always wondered about how that situation turned out!

  • 40-something female patient, in the Urgent Care hallway: ~WHERE IS MY DIET COKE?~
  • Cranquis: Uh, what?
  • Patient: ~MY DIET COKE! I LEFT IT SITTING IN THE EXAM ROOM WHEN YOU SENT ME TO THE LAB DEPARTMENT 45 MINUTES AGO AND NOW SOME OTHER PERSON IS IN MY EXAM ROOM AND MY DIET COKE IS GONE!~
  • Cranquis: Well, ma'am, we only have a couple exam rooms, so we can't reserve the room for you when you're not in our area, and the nurses clean out the room between each patient.
  • Patient: ~YOU MEAN SOME NURSE JUST THREW OUT MY PERFECTLY-GOOD DIET COKE?! I WASN'T DONE DRINKING IT!~
  • Cranquis: Well nobody offered me a free half-full Diet Coke, so I'm guessing... yes. She threw it out.
  • Patient *stomping away*: ~F--- THAT!!~

Lullan (Perospirone) ad.  2003.

Found these Haldol (Haloperidol) ad’s from Japan on the internet!  I am pretty sure most, if not all of these are from the 1970s (maybe 1980s).  I found them on The Japanese Gallery of Psychiatric Art!

Right this minute, there is someone going through chemotherapy shopping at your grocery store, buying popsicles and ice cream to help their sore mouth, and worrying what the cashier is going to think.

There is someone on hemodialysis buying white bread instead of whole wheat, trying to keep their phosphorus levels reasonable between appointments and hoping for the best.

There is a person attending intensive outpatient treatment for their eating disorder who has been challenged by their therapist to buy a Frappuccino.

There are dietitians picking up a dozen different candy bars to eat with their clients, who feel ashamed and guilty about enjoying them.

There is someone who just doesn’t have it in them to cook right now, and this frozen pizza and canned soup will keep them going.

There are people recovering from chronic dieting and semi-starvation who are buying chocolate and chips at their deprived body’s insistence.

All around us are people listening to what their bodies need and attempting to make the best possible choice within a context of overwhelming food pressure. All of their choices are valid, and every single one of these foods is “real.”

THIS!

Fun fact! While Mother Teresa devoted her life to “aiding” the poor and sick, the level of care she administered to those people was at best, substandard. She wasn’t actually as nice as she seems. “At the time of her death, Mother Teresa had opened 517 missions welcoming the poor and sick in more than 100 countries. But these missions have been described as ‘homes for the dying’ by doctors visiting several of these establishments in Calcutta. Doctors observed a significant lack of hygiene, even unfit conditions, as well as a shortage of actual care, inadequate food, and no painkillers. But the authors say the problem is not a lack of money, as the foundation created by Mother Teresa has raised hundred of millions of pounds.”(http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2287427)

Mother Teresa, it seemed, intentionally aided the suffering of the people to bring them closer to God. She has been quoted as saying “I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot, to share it with the passion of Christ. I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people.” Teresa considered converting the sick and the poor to be a higher priority than providing for their actual needs, and believed that human suffering was beneficial and even “beautiful”. (I guess that only applies to people already living, huh? Gotta save tehhh babbbiieezzz and all).

What does this have to do with abortion? She spoke of violence centered around non sentient human beings while simultaneously completely screwing over the sentient beings she is praised for helping. So excuse me if I don’t take Mother Teresa’s words seriously (or don’t excuse me, I don’t really care). I see her as nothing more than a hypocrite…and anyway, I don’t care if you’re Gandhi (who was also a shitty person, by the way…borderline pedophile) or Mother Teresa…your say has no relevance to my bodily autonomy, shitty character not withstanding. -Alyssa

A lot of that money she got was also stolen (and when revealed the money was stolen she revealed she knew it was taken and refused to give it back), as well as donations from the corrupt Duvalier family (so blood money), whom she openly praised.

Seriously, this woman was about as close to a supervillain as a nun could get.

And for anyone unfamiliar with the Duvalier family, Jean-Claude Duvalier was the president of Haiti for a decade and a half and profited greatly from the drug trade, even going as far as to sell dead body parts of Haitians to maitain his wealth. She was pretty tight with them and refused to give that money back to the Haitian people it was stolen from. So yea. Quite fucking merciful indeed, huh? -Alyssa

Hi there.

So… I haven’t written in quite a while. I’m sorry to everyone who reads my blog for the drought as it’s happened before! However I’ve been going through a tough time again. I can’t really say exactly what is going on, because I don’t want to reveal everything about what I’m thinking,…

The second you’re perceived as weak, you already are.
